Pergamino

Hi, it’s me Marimonda.

Today, I’d like to introduce one of the best coffee shops in Medellin, Pergamino. The business began as a coffee bean trader, and they opened coffee shops in the city few years ago. Today, there are four branches of Pergamino. All of them have its unique style (except the one in the airport), thus if you have opportunity and like coffee try to visit all of them.

Pergamino Primavera

Pergamino Primavera is the first Pergamino in the city. It’s located near Parque lleras where one of the most popular districts in Medellin. There are a lot of hostels or hotels nearby, thus many foreigners visit this place.

I would say this is the second Pergamino in the city. Unlike the ones in the city, it’s like a mini take-out coffee store the airport. I visit here whenever I travel to visit my family and friends in other countries to buy some gift for them. I went there last October on the way to Korea. Their coffee beans are limited compared to the stores in town, but still it’s convenient.

Pergamino Oviedo

Pergamino Oviedo is always full of people. Thanks to its geographical advantage (inside the shopping mall), there’re students, business people, and travellers. I would say it’s very popular among local people because unlike the other branches, the shopping mall has a big parking. I also love spending time here drinking coffee and hanging out with friends.

Pergamino Calle 10

Another branch is pretty new compared to other places. It’s on Calle 10B. This area is full of gourmet restaurants in the city. I’ve only been here to buy coffee beans, but the store seemed quite nice.

Budget

Usually a cup of coffee costs around 4,000 cop – 9,000 cop which is about $2~3. Cold drinks are more expensive the hot ones. They sell simple pastries to accompany with coffee. Each piece of cake costs about 6,000-7,000 cop.

Atmosphere

Even though I love iced coffee, but here you should try hand drip coffee. Pick coffee bean you’d like to and then the server will bring you grinded coffee. The staff will have you smell the coffee beans and then they will make coffee for you.

Since it’s a popular place, it seems like they roast coffee beans frequently. Thus, you can taste very fresh coffee whenever you go there.

Enjoy your travel with Marimonda. See you soon 🙂
