Hi, it’s me Marimonda. Today, I’d like to introduce you Xel-Há, a theme park located alongside the Maya River.
My second day in Cancún was full of activities because I visited Tulúm in the morning, Xel-Há in the afternoon, and Cocobongo at night.
Xel-Há (homepage) is a water park where you can do activities such as cliff jumping, snorkeling, or zipline. It’s an all-inclusive attraction, thus once you pay the entrance, you can get food for free and the activities mentioned above are also included. Also, a snorkeling kit is included in the ticket and you can take the kit at home. The entrance ticket costs about 90 USD per adult.
Surely, there are some activities with extra charge such as swimming with stingrays or dolphins. For me, the entrance ticket was already a big expense thus I couldn’t do any. Though, I’m pretty sure that could be one of my lifetime experiences.
The theme park opens at 8:30 a.m. till 6 p.m. Since it’s in the nature, I think they only open when the Sun is in the sky.
I bought an instant camera with waterproof protector, thus I could take some pictures while I was in the waterpark. That’s why the pictures are in low quality. But I found some pictures that help you understand how the atmosphere is like. Actually, zipline was my favorite activity there. 🙂
I also saw a mini-cliff jumping spot in the middle. It looked very fun and easy from the bottom, so I decided to try it. However, looking down at the edge of the cliff, I got scared. I failed at the first trial. After seeing many kids jumping and having fun, I succeed it! But I don’t think I would do that again. It was very challenging personally.
The cliff was four-meter high and the water was three-meter deep as long as I remember. It might be the opposite, but I remember that it was seven meter long in total.
Activities with extra charge
You can upgrade your experience by paying additional fee. Unfortunately, I couldn’t participate any activities because my budget didn’t me allow to. Some of them are quite expensive (more expensive than the entrance ticket), but it seems like you can get a discount if you book it online in advance.
Think about nature
Since it’s a water park in nature, every place should be preserved. One of the measures that they do is to encourage and regulate people to use eco-friendly Sunscreen not to harm to corals.
I didn’t know about this, thus I wasn’t sure what to do when I saw the sign. Fortunately, I could get a sunblock at one of the souvenir shops in the park. I recommend that you bring one that isn’t harmful to the nature. If it’s too difficult to find, simply remember that you can buy an eco-friendly sunscreen there.
I hope you enjoyed the visit to Xel Ha with me. Next post will be about Coco Bongo. Take care and see you soon! 🙂
